Common landscaping mistakes

Although there are plenty of resources and know-hows into landscaping, the errors and mistakes that landscapers make are very common. The reason behind this is the fact that they don’t stick to good landscape practices, methods and maintenance.

Here is a look at some of those myths that contribute to some of the landscaping mistakes.

Watering the garden in the evening will conserve water!

The common notion is that if you water your garden in the evening the water will be absorbed better and it will ‘go further’ as opposed to it being watered in the afternoon. The biggest mistake here is that if a lawn or garden is watered in the evening, the water becomes stagnant on the lawn, which in turn can be a breeding ground for fungus and disease to germinate. This will result in you replacing your entire lawn. Lawns and gardens will only need 1’ of water each week and during the hot months you need to keep the garden or lawn damp during the day.

If my grass is much shorter I will not have to cut it very often!

When you move your lawn very short you are exposing the root system to excess and extreme sunlight. Weeds are also better able to get sunlight when the grass is short making them grow quicker than the grass itself. If you let your grass grow long, and then cutting them can create a huge imbalance as the cut grass will be too thick on your lawn. This in turn removes the nutrients from the system. Also cutting the grass too short makes it impossible to produce more shoots which results in brown patches. These brown patches will make home owners think that the grass has dried due to less water, making them water the lawn excessively.

My garden does not need a professional landscaper!

Many homeowners think that landscaping is a DIY project and hiring a Landscaper Lennox head, is a waste of time and energy when you can take matters into your own hands. It’s a common practice to weed your garden, move your lawn and plant a few shrubs but sometimes more complex projects may need the expertise of a professional. Even though, many people see this as a DIY project landscaping, research and market trends show that landscaping is one of the most sought after businesses.

All homes need a lawn

Even though the common notion that homes will be nice with a lawn, it’s not the end of the world, if you don’t have a backyard or a front yard with grass. A front yard or a backyard can be made beautiful without grass, or with the combination of grass landscape designs. Grassless lawns are easy to manage, maintain and require very little of your time.
