Unique Places To Visit In Ballina

Ballina is a unique city that is full mysteries that only a real tourist can look forward to discovering. The unique attractions and the lovely sights are probably the top reasons that visitors flock to this town throughout the year.

The first of these distinctive places is the Alstonville Heritage Trail. This will especially be delightful to anyone who appreciates Australian history. It is a trail of buildings and parks that were used by those who lived generations before. The first in the trail is the Crawford House Museum while Federal Hotel is at the end. Alstonville was historically referred to as Duck Creek Mountain and has been well developed and restored to afford the visitors a peek into live in the early settlements.

Another unique attraction happens to be the Wardell Walkabout. This is a region that carries a lot of history that dates back to 1828. It is home to the Richmond River on whose mouth Captain Henry Rous found as an excellent spot to anchor the naval frigate HMS Rainbow. Together with two of his assistants, they navigated the river only to discover thick undergrowth of palm trees and some Aboriginal dwellings. By the mid 19th century Wardell had become a huge producer of timber products, especially from the red cedar trees. The trade continue until the red cedar variety was depleted forcing the region to embrace sugarcane growing which continues to this day. There are brochures to direct the visitor to this must-visit area.

The Jingi Wahla Reconciliation Tunnel Murals is the other place that no visitor should overlook. The tunnel is home to exceptional murals that tell important stories of the creation as far as the Budjalung Nation was concerned. Many locals hold this location with a high degree of reverence as it carries their history.
Nightcap National Park also falls into the category of the unique attractions of Ballina. It has astonishing features that include out-of-this-world waterfalls. As it is located just a 45 minute drive from the city, it provides the visitor an opportunity to see other amazing attractions along the way. This national park together with the Whian Whian State Conservation Area, cover about 10,500 hectares. The unique shaping of the grounds by erosion activities of thousands of years is definitely worth a click. The park also provides several walking tracks that range from one kilometre to seven kilometres and picnic areas that are well maintained.
Who would fail to notice the farmers markets or car-boot sales that happen in the city every weekend? You can also sample the tasty macadamia nuts that the region is known for. Artifacts, flowers and vegetables are all available at these sales.

Of course, one other thing that all visitors to lovely Ballina look forward to are comfortable hotels that offer great rates. Accommodation in Ballina is quite affordable and is available in its finest at the always spectacular Avalon Gardens Motel. If there ever was an accommodation option that is as lovely as the location it is located in, it is the Avalon Gardens.
