Just 80km south of Brisbane, is a city which is famous for its sunny, tropical climate; surfing beaches; theme parks; nightlife; and high-rise sky line. This city is a famous tourist destination named The Gold Coast. Located in the state of Queensland the city spans an area of roughly 400km2. The city is placed cosily in an ideal location away from the chaos of the city, which is at the same time close enough to the city for quick travelling to and from it for business and other matters. The city is bordered on the western side by the Great Dividing Range and it sits on at the foot of the mountain range. A majority of this city was originally a wetland but today these swamps have been converted into a system of man-made water ways and islands. These are now home to a large number of up-market homes. The Gold Coast is climatically classified according to the Koppen Climate Classification as a ‘humid subtropical climate’. This means that it has slightly cool winters and hot, humid summers. Occasionally, a few torrential rains that last for days at a stretch are seen during the summer, which lead to residents succumbing to what is known as the “summer blues”. The network within and around the Gold Coast are in excellent condition which makes it easily accessible by road. The city is also easily accessible by both road and rail. The comfortability, convenience and picturesque nature of the Gold Coast have resulted in this city becoming a famous choice for domestic settlements and new building developments. The main factors which affect these are topography and geological characters of the Gold Coast. Due to its position and soil conditions most constructions require land-fills. Due to this we often see a lot of retention wall Gold Coast. Retaining walls are used to give stability to the building, while enhancing its aesthetic value. They hold back soil and other materials and prevent the land or land-fill from eroding. A wide variety of materials can be used to build a retaining wall, including sandstone, timber, concrete, granite, bush rock can be used.
