Activities That A Visitor Can Take Part In While In Armidale

Rated among the most cosmopolitan cities in Australia, Armidale boasts of a lot other good stuff. With the high numbers of tourists who flock to it each year, it is indeed true that it has something that other cities or towns don’t. Although it has a population of about 25,000, Armidale has inhabitants from 53 nationalities; and they keep coming. While some are working, a good fraction of them are holidaymakers. This is a look at some of the activities that a visitor can do while here.

The first thing on their itinerary should be to visit the fine heritage architectural marvels that dot the city. Armidale is famed for its rich history that begun with the European settlement days; some of those early buildings still stand today with many of them being renowned churches and cathedrals. It is very fulfilling especially to the persons who appreciate church history and old architecture. There are guided tours to these places and no visitor should ignore them because they are quite accessible by the local transport systems.
Who would hate to tour Oxley wild Rivers National Park? Of course no one considering the expansive wilderness that this World Heritage park provides. There are numerous gorges that have been termed dramatic by some visitors. The magnificent waterfalls that are in this park are also to-die-for and so are the picturesque rivers that meander through the gorges. It is the one place that plant lovers enjoy to the maximum owing to the rare plants in the rainforest. The park also has different bird and animal species.

Another activity worth mentioning is to visit Armidale Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Keeping Place. This should be a priority activity to the art lovers because on display are Aboriginal Arts and Craft. Apart from the displays, one can also get to buy some of those items; a dream to many art-fanatics. The centre is one of the best places that exhibitions of traditional and contemporary artists from the country are held.
While in Armidale one can take up bushwalking to experience the beautiful and natural landscapes that help define the place. There is the Armidale Bushwalking Club which consists of about 50 members that does regular walks, usually once a fortnight. It is recommended that a bushwalking fan joins one such club so that he gets to be informed of the best places to walk and is guaranteed of safety owing to the experienced members. 

For the visitors who get a kick from fishing, Armidale is the place to be. The whole New England Region teems with excellent rivers, creeks and streams to fish. There is an abundance of freshwater fish and visitors of any age can enjoy this fun-filled activity. Mountain rivers and streamsthat are colder are a haven for Brown Trout while Redfin and Catfish can be caught in the warmer rivers. Although a visitor can go fish alone, it is recommended that he be in the company of the fully-guided tours that are offered by the highly experienced local anglers.

While a visitor is in the city there are those motels Armidale is famed for that one can stay in. In particular, the Armidale Regency Motel is a fantastic option. 3.5 Star facilities, amazing services and great rates are to be expected.
