All about Yamba, Australia

Australia is among the countries that boast of a rich history. From north to south and east to west, it is the one place that one will find all kinds of cultures that blend together regardless of backgrounds. When it comes to activities and attractions, this country is so endowed that one would be spoilt for choice. Australia is also home to some of the most popular and beautiful towns and this article looks at one such town, that goes by the name Yamba.

With an average local population of 7,500, Yamba town is situated in the northern New South Wales of Australia and at the mouth of the Clarence River. This river happens to be the biggest in the northern side of NSW and it helps stamp Yamba on the world map. Originally named the Shoal Bay, it got its present name in 1885 when it then had a population of 340.  The uniqueness of this town can be said to come from its location, climate, people and other factors.

Yamba town is within reach of other towns such as Lismore, Ballina and Grafton. The famed gold coast is only two hours away while Sydney is just a two-hourflight from Yamba. This means that it is well served by important amenities such as high speed internetand excellent transport industry.

With an elevation of 29 metres above sea level, Yamba is famous for the recognition it was awarded, together with San Diego and Bunbury in America, as having the best climate in the world. The weather here never gets extreme and one can enjoy their time all year through. The minimum average temperatures are 15 degrees while the maximum averages at 23; the right ingredient for a wonderful holiday. To ensure that adequate greenery thrives, the mother nature endows it with an annual rainfall that reaches 57.2 inches.

The town is also known for having been voted by the Australian traveller magazine as the best town in the country. To get these awards, it is apparent that the region must be doing something right. For three decades, Yamba has been on an upward trend, beating other well established towns and even cities. Alongside Clarence River, the coastal town is surrounded by rural lands, the Pacific Ocean and the Yuraygir National Park. The people of Yuraygir, known as Yaegl are the traditional custodians of Yamba among other areas.

Yamba also boasts of eleven beaches that are famed for their sand, serenity and warm weather that combine to invite one to take a deep in the cool waters. These beaches are also home to other recreational activities such as surfing and fishing. The economy of this unique town is strongly based on fishing and tourism as well. It is indeed true that Yamba is in a class of its own.
